beat Lakeshore Cougars 33 - 0.
Lions
now 9 - 0.
The
North Shore Lions beat the Lakeshore Cougars 33 - 0 on Sunday afternoon
at Parc des Benevoles.
The Lions current winning
streak is now at 78 games.
On a windy day the Lions started slowly but eventually
got the big engine rolling and rolled over the Lakeshore Cougars.
The first score of the game, came with 10:58 left in the 2nd quarter on
a 84 yard reverse play to #2 Tevin Gray. The Lions converted a 2
yard pass play to Tevin Gray and take the lead in the game 8 - 0.
With 7:46 left in the half the Lions defense comes up big and
forces the Cougars to give up a safety.
The score at halftime ends Lions up 10 - 0.
In the 3rd quarter with 9:25 left in the 3rd quarter, the Lions score
on a 11 yard
scamper by #23 Cedric Joseph, the extra point is converted
successfully, 17 - 0.
Then the Lakeshore offense is once again stuck deep in their territory
by
the Lions defense and is forced to give up a second safety. With
2:20 left in the 3rd quarter, quarterback Jonathan Doughlin bootlegs
it left from 3 yards out and scores, the extra point is good, 26 -
0.
The final score of the game was a 3 yard run by #33 David Byrns.
At the end of the game the Lions were presented the QBFL trophy, by
QBFL President Kathy McNair, for winning the season championship.
The Lions defense played another impeccable game, not giving up a major
score for
the fifth straight game. Interceptions for the Lions, #25
Zachary Cormier, #20 Shawn
Steen and #53 Patrick Smith. Fumble recoveries by #93 Francois
Roy and #95 Mohammed Rifai. QB sacks, 3 by #53 Patrick Smith,
1.5 for #55 John-Anthony Taddio, 1 by #56 Anthony
Melotti and .5 each for #93 Francois Roy, #97 Steven Gill and #90
William Page.
The Lions next game will be played against the Laurentien Wildcats at Parc
Ducharme in Ste. Therese on Saturday Oct. 17 at 14:00.
