Another Game That's Too Close For Comfort As Lions Barely Get By Stallions 35-26

The St. Lazare
Stallions gave the Lions a serious run for their money as they nearly
accomplished what every team in the QBFL sets out to do, which is to
put an end to the Lions undefeated streak. A combination of
turnovers and lack of execution by the Lions, together with a very
aggressive and well executed game plan by the Stallions made for a game
that saw the Lions at a disadvantage for the majority of the game and
forced them to come from behind to get the win and preserve their
streak.
Although the Lions
offense was able to effectively move the ball, a total of 5 turnovers
put a stop to some productive drives, two of which were inside the St.
Lazare 5 yard line. Andrew Hopkins (16 carries for 184 yards and
2 TD's) and Ernst Pierre (23 carries for 83 yards and 1 TD) did most of
the work on the ground for the North Shore offense. Vincent Bourgon
also added another rushing major on a QB keeper in the second half.
Kyeon Nicely caught 3 passes for 73 yards and Shawn Steen kicked 2
field goals and 3 converts. The scoring was rounded out on a
safety by linebacker Trevor Cernivz when he tackled a Stallion
ballcarrier in the St. Lazare endzone.
On defense,
although the Lions managed to shut down the St. Lazare running game
they were still not as dominant as they have been in recent games
as the Stallions managed to generate quite a bit of success with
their passing attack. Leading the defense were Chris Watson,
Thomas Quinn and Shawn Steen with 6 tackles apiece. Trevor
Cernivz came up with an interception to go along with his safety while
Glody Bomolo added yet another sack to his season's total.
Gabriel Dansereau blocked an important convert which kept the
game tied during the third quarter and Killian Moore also got an interception along with a fumble
recovery.
Next week, the
Lions will be at home for their last regular season game of the year where they
will host the Lakeshore Cougars. The game is at Riverdale on Friday, October 17th at 8:00 PM.
