defeat Sun Youth Hornets 35 - 6.
Lions
now 8 - 0.
The
North Shore Lions defeated the Sun Youth Hornets 35 - 6 on Friday night
at Riverdale.
The Lions current winning
streak is now at 77 games.
The Lions put on another masterful appearance and put
their own sting on the hot streaking Hornets on this cool October
evening.
The Lions scored first at 2:56 of the 1st quarter, as #23 Cedric Joseph
ran it in from the 1 yard line, #20 Shawn Steen converted the extra
point for a 7 - 0 lead by the Lions. In the second quarter, the
Lions added another point by Shawn Steen on a missed 25 yard field goal
try. The Lions then put themselves again in another scoring
position on a long 40 yard pass play from QB #4 Skylar Bayliff to #1
Thomas Arnone. The next play #34 Kevin Kyere scored his 10th TD
of the season, the extra point was good.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Lions kicked it over the heads of the
Hornet players and thru the endzone for another single point, Lions up
16 - 0 and that was the score at the end of the 1st half.
The second half started quickly again for the Lions, as Cedric Joseph
took the kickoff and returned the ball for a TD. Later in the 3rd
quarter Sun Youth recorded their only points of the game on an
interception return for a TD.
In the 4 quarter, the Lions defense pinned the Hornets deep in their
zone and forced them to give up a safety.
With 2:51 left in the game Shawn Steen added 3 points on a 25 yard
field goal.
The final score of the game was a 10 yard run by #33 David Byrns.
The Lions defense once again stood tall not giving up a major score for
the fourth straight game. Interceptions for the Lions, 2 by Shawn
Steen, 1 each by #56 Anthony Melotti and #27 Patrick Mons, his first of
the year.
The Lions next game will be played against the
Lakeshore Cougars at Benevoles Park
on Sunday Oct. 11 at 14:00.
