47-0 Win Over Richelieu Gives Lions 50th Consecutive Victory

In a game that
could easily be described as far from perfect, the Lions reached a
milestone by winning their 50th consecutive game with a 47-0 victory over
the Richelieu Pirates. The offense was not as sharp as usual as
they experienced breakdowns and miscues in the execution of their plays
but they still managed to get things going well enough to be able to
pull off a decisive win. There were 4 rushing TD's scored by the
offense with Andrew Hopkins, Sammy Mesidor, Maxx St. James and Ernst
Pierre getting one apiece. St. James connected with Simon Lacroix
on a 35 yard pass for the only passing TD of the game. Matthew
John had a big game on special teams getting 2 TD's on punt returns and
kicker Shaquille Lattimore was successful on 5 convert attempts.
The defense was not
without its problems either as the Pirates managed to produce some of
the most successful drives that this defense has seen from any team all
year. They too, however, were able to get it together and shut
the Pirates down to ensure the shutout. Key plays were made by
Alex Grace, Greg Lee and Mark Baroudi getting an interception each.
Kevin Kilbourne also got an interception along with a QB sack
while Kyle Macgregor got 2 more sacks to add to his team-leading total.
Next week, the
Lions will wrap up their road trip at Sun Youth where they will
meet the Hornets at Jeanne Mance Park on Friday, Oct. 5th at
20:00.
