Lions Maul Cougars 41-7

The Lions
continue their romp towards an undefeated season with a 41-7 victory
over the St. Leonard Cougars. Despite a number of miscues and
mental errors from the offence, the Lions managed to take advantage of
several opportunities where they were given good field position to give
them the overwhelming win over the Cougars. Offensive touchdowns
on the ground were scored by Josh George, Sammy Mesidor and Ross
Olshansky. QB Matt Leblanc connected with Richie Elias for
another one in the air. Joey Fulginiti, having another great game
on defense, ran in an interception for a touchdown and was good on all
5 converts. The scoring was rounded out with two defensive safeties
when St. Leonard conceded in their own endzone and two single points
when a punt from Jesse St. James and a field goal attempt by
Fulginiti sailed through the St. Leonard endzone.
The North Shore
defense played a superb game as they put constant pressure on the St.
Leonard quarterback and held the Cougars to 127 yards in total offense.
Mohammed Malik got his second interception of the season. A
tackle by Alex Grace forced a fumble which was recovered by Mark
Continelli and linebacker Jessy Thompson got his first QB sack of the
season.
The Lions are back
home at Riverdale next week where they will host the Greenfield Park
Packers. The game is on Friday night at 8:00.
