Lions Win Battle For First Place With 35-14 Win Over St. Leonard

The battle for
first place was exactly what it was expected to be. It was a
hard-fought and hard-hitting war between the two top teams in the Bill
Allen division but it was the Lions who prevailed in the end, beating
the St. Leonard Cougars 35-14.
It was the Lions'
powerful running game that gave them the most success that night.
A total of 369 yards were generated on the rush alone. QB
Vincent Bourgon ran in for two of the majors while Andrew Hopkins and
Evan Wiley got one each. Receiver Kyeon Nicely had another big
night with 5 catches and the only passing TD of the game. Shawn
Steen had another perfect game as a kicker where he nailed all 5
converts. On defense, the leaders with 5 tackles apiece were
Patrick Smith, Gabriel Dansereau and Glody Bomolo who also got another
QB sack to add to his collection.
Next week, the
Lions are still at home where they will take on the Sun Youth Hornets. The game is at
Riverdale on Friday, October 3rd. Game time is 8:00 PM.
