Lions
defeat Lasalle Warriors 64 - 1.
Lions
now 5 - 0.
The
North Shore Lions defeated the Lasalle Warriors 64- 1 on Friday night
at Riverdale park.
The Lions current winning
streak is now at 74 games.
The Lions scored the first points of the game, with
7:05 left in the 1st quarter Kevin Kyere ran the ball in from 12 yards
out, Malcom Watt caught the 2 point conversion from holder Skylar
Bayliff. The first quarter ended with the Lions ahead 8 - 0.
In the second quarter at 6:55, Kevin Kyere again ran the ball in from
12 yards, Shawn Steen kicked the extra point. With 2:28 left in
the half, Kevin Kyere scored his 3rd touchdown of the game on a 40 yard
run, on the extra point attempt Skylar Bayliff handed off to Shawn
Steen who took it in for 2 points.
With 57 seconds left in the half Marco Rossi ran over a couple of
players and scored a 10 yard touchdown, the extra point was converted
by Shawn Steen.
At hafltime, the score was 30 -1 for the Lions.
In the second half, at 12:11 of the 3rd quarter, Shawn Steen ran a punt
back 70 yards for a TD and also makes the extra point convert. On
the ensuing possession for Lasalle, Lions linebacker Anthony Melotti
intercepted the ball at midfield. The very next play for the
Lions, Marco Rossi runs the ball for 50 yards, down to the Warriors 3
yard line. From there QB Skylar Bayliff calls his own # and runs
the ball in for the major, the convert is successfull by Shawn Steen.
With 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, RB Jersey Henry scores
his first TD of the season, the extra point is no good as the snap is
mishandled. RB David Byrns add another touchdown in the 4th
quarter and with 4 minutes left in the game, Shawn Steen intercepts the
ball 5 yards in the Lions endzone and returns it all the way back 115
yards for a TD.
Final score 64 - 1.
The Lions next game will be played at Riverdale on
Friday Sept 18th
20:00 vs. St. Leonard Cougars.
