First Place No Longer In Question With 49-7 Win Over Lasalle Warriors
The
claim
for first place in the Bill Allan division was no longer an issue after
last night when the North Shore Lions beat the Lasalle Warriors by a
score of 49-7.
The offense, which is still holding its average of 400 yards per
game, was back to its old self again with sharp execution of
plays. Running back Matthew John had another big night on the
ground with one rushing TD and another on a kickoff return. Other
rushing TD's were produced by Andrew Hopkins, Ernst Pierre and Eric
Locas. In the air, QB Maxx St. James threw for 229 yards with
receiver Simon Lacroix being his favourite target getting 4 receptions
for 146 yards and one TD. Chris Coll also caught two passes last
night including his first TD of the season. Shaquille Lattimore
was good on 5 convert attempts and the defense was credited with the
remaining 2 points on a safety when the Warriors conceded in their own
endzone.
On defense, the Lions continue to be virtually invincible as,
technically, the 7 points that the Warriors scored were done on a punt
return. Strong performances were turned in by Greg Lee with
6 tackles along with Kevin Kilbourne and Luka Ricard with five
apiece. Alex Grace recorded 2 QB sacks while Mark Continelli and
Kevin Slawter got one each. DB Killian Moore came up with a big
interception later in the fourth quarter.
Next week the Lions are back on home turf when they take on the Sun
Youth Hornets on Friday night at Riverdale. Game time is at 8:00
PM.
