Lions
beat Laurentien Wildcats 28 - 19.
Lions
now 3 - 0.
The
North Shore Lions brought down another opponent Friday night.
The upstart Laurentien Wildcats now playing in the Bill Allan division
in 2009 came in to
Riverdale sporting a 2 - 0 record and intent on being the first team to
beat the Lions in the past 5 years. However the Lions showed
their true metal and beat the Wildcats 28 - 19.
The Lions were the first to open the scoring on a score by Tevin Gray,
Eric Paquette called upon for kicking duties in the absence of
regular kicker Shawn Steen, kicked the extra point.
Shortly after the Lions added and extra point when punter Francis
Chiquette came in and booted a ball thru the endzone for a rouge.
After a score by the Wildcats to make the score 8 - 6. The
Lions came back with 2 more scores of their own to open a 21 - 6 lead.
Kevin Kyere and Cedric Joseph scored the majors, Eric Paquette
converted 1 of the TD's successfully.
The 2 teams went into half time with the Lions leading 21 - 6.
The second half started with the Lions quickly marching down field,
however an interception by the opposition just as quickly snuffed out
the drive. The opposition wasn't going to lie down just yet and
scored 2 TD's to cut the Lions lead to 21 - 19.
However the Lions defense finally came thru and started to shutdown the
opposition.
After a few more possessions for each team without any major offense
being created. The Lions punt team finally came thru and forced a
fumble which they recovered, giving the Lions good field position at
midfield.
The offense then took the ball down the rest of the field and David
Byrns ran the ball in for the final score of the game. After that
the Lions defense shutdown the Wildcats and didn't allow them any room
to score again.
The Lions once again prevailed as winners 28 - 19.
The Lions next game will be played on the road Sept 5th 16:00 at
Westwood park in St. Lazare.
