Lions Steamroll Over Packers with 73-0 Win
The
Lions are proving that they are a force to be reckoned with in the QBFL
as they completely obliterated the Greenfield Park Packers by a score
of 73-0 last night at Riverdale. It was an obvious mismatch as it
seemed that the Lions offense, which is now averaging 400 yards per
game, could do no wrong by scoring virtually every time they handled
the ball. The scoring was started by running back Matthew John in
the first series of plays with a 51 yard run into the Greenfield Park
endzone. More rushing scores were added by Sammy Mesidor, Evan
Wiley, QB Maxx St. James and backup QB Vincent Bourgon with one apiece and running back
Ernst Pierre with two. Receiver Simon Lacroix got his second TD in the
air for the season from St. James and
also scored a point with a touchback on a kickoff that sailed through
the opposing endzone. Shaquille Lattimore had another big game as
he ran back a punt for a TD and added 4 more converts to his
total. Andrew Hopkins also completed 4 converts along with a
field goal and a touchback.
Defensively, the Lions were absolute beasts as they held the Packers to
a mere 39 yards in total offense and capitalized on 9 turnovers
committed by the Greenfield Park offense. Leading the way was
Nick Gaudreault with 3 interceptions on the night. Linebacker
Luka Ricard picked off another one and ran it back for a TD and also
recovered a fumble later on in the game. More fumble recoveries were
recorded by Greg Lee, Dimitri Divolis, Irving Fosu and Alex Gascon.
The Lions are back in action again this Saturday night at Riverdale at 8:00 PM against the Richelieu Pirates.
