2006 Provincial Champions!

The Lions beat the Hochelaga Archers 37-16 to capture their third straight provincial championship at Molson Stadium.  This makes the 29th provincial title for the team in the 40 years of its existence.  Joey Fulginiti once again had an exceptional game as his performance earned him the honour of game MVP.   He produced both offensively and defensively as he was responsible for 3 successful field goals, 4 converts and 3 interceptions.  On offense, Matt Leblanc ran in for two TD's while Spencer Karls ran in another from 4 yards out.  Josh George accumulated 105 yards rushing and Robin Schmidt came up with a big 35 yard reception to keep a drive alive in the first half.  Jesse St. James had a huge game on defense as he blocked a punt and ran it in for a TD.  He also registered a QB sack, 10 tackles and 8 assists. Other key defensive plays were made by Oliver Bernardi and Ben Heazle with a sack each along with Nick Gaudreault and Tristan Durn Rothwell who each came up with an interception. 

This caps off a successful 2006 campaign for the Lions as they have accomplished their goal of finishing off an undefeated season with another provincial championship. The next step for the Lions will be both the team and league awards banquets which are expected to be held sometime in February.  In the meantime, everyone will get to enjoy a well deserved break before preparation for next season begins again next spring.
