Championship Bound!

The Lions will advance to the Provincial Championships next weekend after a decisive 59-0 playoff victory over the Vimont Patriotes.  The Lions offense operated like a well-oiled machine as they picked apart the Patriotes defense.  Matt Leblanc's air attack was unstoppable as he threw 2 TD passes each to Richie Elias and Robin Schmidt. Backup QB Max St. James, who ran in for 2 more majors himself, threw another TD pass to receiver Jonathan Still in the fourth quarter.  Sammy Mesidor got another one on the ground with a 14 yard end-run earlier in the game.  Joey Fulginiti was perfect on all 8 converts and a field goal.

The obviously lopsided game gave the Lions defense an opportunity to shine once again. They actually managed to push the Patriotes offense back throughout the game and caused them to have a negative progress of -56 total yards, without counting the ridiculous amount of questionable calls that went against the Lions defense in the first half.  Five QB sacks were recorded in all that were contributed by Kyle MacGregor, Jesse St. James, Jessy Thompson, Ben Heazle, Mark Continelli, Francis Richard, and Chris Coll who also came up with a big interception in the game.  Nick Gaudreault had a big night in the defensive backfield getting an interception while Alex Grace came through with a fumble recovery.

Next week, the Lions are off to Molson Stadium at McGill University for the Provincial Championships.  The game is on Sunday, November 12th at 13:00.  They will face the winner of the last remaining playoff game between Richelieu and Hochelaga which is still undecided.
