Lions win Gold Cup after defeating Wildcats 10 - 9.

The North Shore Lions won the QBFL Bantam AAA Gold Cup champonship against the Laurentien Wildcats on Sunday at Stade Hebert in St. Leonard.
The first quarter was played like a chess match, each team effectively countering the other teams move.  The Lions seemed to have scored a touchdown on a punt return by #23 Cedric Joseph however that was nullified by a Lions penalty.  In the second quarter the Lions offense finally got untracked thanks to the power running game as #35 Marco Rossi busted thru the right side for an 11 yard touchdown, the convert was good and the Lions led 7 - 0. Later in the quarter the Lions seemed to be marching down the field for another major, however they had to settle for a 25 yard field goal by #20 Shawn Steen.  With less than a minute to go in the half, the Wildcats scored their only points of the half on a field goal. Halftime score Lions 10 Wildcats 3.
The second half was played much like the first quarter, both teams struggling to mount any effective offense.  In the final quarter the Wildcats finally were able to score a touchdown, after a 35 yard pass play, the Wildcats were able to punch the ball thru the Lions defense and scored.  However, they were unable to convert the extra point as Shawn Steen busted thru the offensive line and was able to deflect the extra point out of harms way.  This play turned out to be the difference in the game as both teams failed to score another point.
As the final whistle blew, the Lions stormed the field and celebrated another QBFL crown.
Shawn Steen of the Lions was chosen MVP of the game.
