Lions Get Past First Round Of Playoffs With 63-0 Win Over Packers

The Lions have
completed the first step in the QBFL playoffs with a decisive 63-0 win
over the Greenfield Park Packers. Although they knew that this
was going to be a lopsided game, based on the previous encounters that
these two teams had this year, the Lions didn't show any lack of
motivation for the playoffs and came out fired up and ready to play
some serious football.
The offense got off
to an early start as they began the scoring in the first series of
plays with running back Evan Wiley, who carried the ball 5 times for 91
yards, getting his first of two TD's in the game. Sammy
Mesidor also got 2 rushing TD's while Andrew Hopkins and Ernst Pierre
got one each. Hopkins also scored on the opening kickoff of the
second half. The passing game also had some success as QB Maxx
St. James found receiver Simon Lacroix in the endzone on a 25
yard strike for 6 points. Receiver Damian Hirt got a touchdown as
he was alert to a fumble that had rolled in the endzone after a pass
had been completed. Lacroix was also successful on all 9
converts.
On defense, the
Lions played a stellar game limiting the Packer offense to only 25
total yards for the entire game. A total of 10 QB sacks were
recorded by Kyle Macgregor, Irving Fosu, Mark Continelli, Dimitri
Divolis, Phil Hebert, Alex Grace and Kevin Kilbourne who also led the
defense with 8 tackles. Interceptions were registered by Alex
Grace and Greg Lee who also came up with a fumble recovery.
The Lions now await
the results of the rest of the playoff games being played to see who
their opponents will be in the next round. Details will be
announced once they have been finalized.
