Regular Season Ends Undefeated As Lakeshore Gets Pounded 39-0

The North Shore
Lions finished the 2008 regular season with a perfect 10-0 record last
night as they pounded the Lakeshore Cougars to the tune of 39-0.
It was obvious that the offense was firing much better than they
have been in recent weeks as they generated a total of 336 yards and 5
touchdowns to show for it. Ernst Pierre was the designated
workhorse this game as he carried the ball 9 times for 137 yards and 3
TD's. Other rushing majors were contibuted by Evan Wiley and
Andrew Hopkins with one apiece. Shawn Steen connected with one
field goal and 4 converts. The remaining 2 points came on a
safety by the defense when Lakeshore conceded deep in their own
end.
The Lions defense
were absolute beasts as they not only held the Cougars to a measly 9
yards in rushing but they also enjoyed a virtual sackfest dropping the
Lakeshore QB a total of 8 times. Players involved in the
sacking festivities included Glody Bomolo, Kyle McGuigan, Kadeem Nurse,
Gabriel Dansereau, Dimitri Divolis, Francis Chiquette and Thomas Quinn.
Other big plays were made by Shawn Steen who got his 7th
interception of the year along with William Page and Trevor Cernivz who
each came up with a fumble recovery. Cernivz led the defense with
6 tackles.
After the game,
head coach Jason Jourdenais was presented with the Bill Allan division
championship trophy by QBFL president Kathy McNair in recognition of
winning the division title once again this year.
The Lions will now
be able to enjoy a week off as there will be a bye week in the
QBFL prior to the playoffs. Once they get back to action they
will face the Lasalle Warriors in the first round of the playoffs.
The date and time of the game have yet to be confirmed but it
will be held at Riverdale as the Lions have earned home field
advantage throughout the playoffs by winning the division title.
More details will be posted once they have been confirmed.
